Lisa Fortuna, MD, MPH, MDiv, chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the UC Riverside School of Medicine, has been selected to deliver the prestigious Mysell Lecture at Harvard Medical School on Wednesday March 13, 2024.
"It is an honor to represent UC Riverside and to be selected by my colleagues at Harvard Medical School as Mysell lecturer," Fortuna said. "I was a research fellow and then a junior faculty at Harvard in the early years of 2000, and it is wonderful to return for this occasion and honor"
Fortuna's lecture topic is "It's about time: The art, and science of community driven mental health equity research," and will address the importance of partnering with communities in research for the advancement of science and for the benefit of society. She will discuss her ongoing community partnered research and advancements in the field of health equity research.
Previous Mysell lecturers, selected by the Harvard Psychiatry Executive Committee, include Nobel laureate Eric Kandel, MD and NIH leaders Thomas Insel, MD, and Nora Volkow, MD.
