American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) has awarded a $24,000 grant to the UCR School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in support of the 2023-2024 Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (FMIGS) program.

The fellowship trains physicians in advanced endoscopic procedures, including advanced laparoscopy, operative hysteroscopy, vaginal surgery, and robotic assisted surgery.

"This grant will offset some of the departmental costs and help the fellows obtain better education through courses and training, by sending our fellows to additional courses or conferences, covering the costs of research, and aid in obtaining equipment for their surgical training," said Janet Cruz, MD, a current fellow in the FMIGS program. "We are also considering developing a cadaver lab course for the fellows."
