On Wednesday, the UC Regents’ Health Services Committee voted to approve Timothy J. Collins, EdD, MHA, FACHE, EMT as the new chief executive officer of the UC Riverside Health clinical enterprise (UCR Health). Collins brings more than 30 years of experience in acute care hospitals, health systems and academic medical centers.
Collins’ appointment begins on May 1, 2023. He will also have a faculty appointment within the School of Medicine's Department of Social Medicine, Population and Public Health.

Collins comes to UCR Health from Scripps Health in San Diego, where he has held several positions since joining the organization in 2006. Since 2017, he has served as the administrator of Scripps Green Hospital, a 173-bed hospital and integrated ambulatory services enterprise with more than $450M in annual net revenue. While there, he designed and implemented a $32M performance improvement plan and reduced operating expenses by more than 10% over 12 months.
He attended the University of Southern California, earning a bachelor of science in business administration and a master of healthcare administration with an emphasis in healthcare finance.
In 2018 he earned his doctorate in education in interdisciplinary and organizational leadership from Creighton University. In 2013 he earned a Gold Level Lean Certification from the University of Iowa.
In 2021, Collins administered the Scripps-led COVID-19 vaccination superstation at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, which provided thousands of shots per day to residents in the region.
Collins is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a licensed emergency medical technician with experience as a first responder, emergency management planning and deployments, international relief efforts, and search and rescue operations.
